Well, I think Wikipedia is an awesome site. I found this article on there entitled “one-hour thanksgiving dinner.” Apparently, Rachael Ray Thanksgiving in 60 wasn’t the beginning of this phenomenon. I guess there was a whole movement towards the one-hour thanksgiving dinner.
Anyways, the article does contain information about the origins of the concept of the one-hour Thanksgiving dinner. In addition, it also mentions the Rachael Ray Thanksgiving in 60. This show kind of brought back the idea of the one-hour thanksgiving dinner.
Leave it to Rachael Ray to want to bring back a good idea. This is totally her style. Creating a fancy and delicious dish with half the time and effort is right up her ally.
Here is a part of the article on wikipedia - “The development of convenience foods incorporated into the North American diet and supermarket shelves became so wide spread that by the late 1990s they could be used to convincingly replace entirely the Thanksgiving dinner. Most Americans do incorporate convenience foods to some degree, but typically do not create the entire meal from them.”
You can find the entire article here - - It is pretty interesting, or at least I though so.
