Here's a really neat article on Rachael Ray. I wish they would have had some great Rachael Ray pics to go with it, but they do have some magazine pictures of her. Anyways, the article was pretty good, and I’ll tell you why.
Rachael Ray has many critics, as you may know, and they all have the same excuses. She is too perky and she’s not a real chef. Although her perkiness is something that is always going to be a matter of personal taste, I happen to like a positive attitude with lots of energy, her culinary style is not the same as other top chefs.
However, I did not say that her skills were not the same. Yet, Rachael Ray does not claim, and has never claimed, to be a top chef. She even stated in one interview that you won’t see her on Iron Chef America.
Here is what the article had to say, and I totally agree. “While she doesn't deserve to be considered on the same level as famous chefs like Jacques Pepin and even Mario Batali, she's not trying to be. She's not pretending to be anything else than what she is: an experienced gourmet food buyer and manager who developed a catchy gimmick, which is helping people make (somewhat) healthy meals with easily accessible ingredients in a reasonable amount of time.”
