Best Wishes for Clint Gilbert

While scouring the net for interesting Rachael Ray info, I stumbled upon an article about a California 15-year old who is prepping to receive a kidney transplant (courtesy of his father). Clint Gilbert currently does dialysis every day as he awaits the upcoming surgery.

The story probably isn't unlike many others. And all of them, of course, are touching and tug at any decent person's heartstrings a bit. This story was particularly interesting because the dad is the scheduled kidney donor. And it caught my eye because Clint has an interesting hobby for a high school freshman--he is a budding chef.

And, the article credits watching the Food Network as a source of his interest. It probably doesn't hurt that his father is involved in the food industry as a grocery produce manager, too.

In any case, the paper mentioned both Clint's interest in cooking and it mentioned Rachael Ray, the reigning queen of the Food Network. It didn't really say Clint was ga-ga for the yum-o Rachael Ray or anything. Just mentioned her as an aside--which was all it took for the search engine to shoot the article at me while I was looking for Rachael stuff.

But, I thought I would take the opportunity to let everyone know about this kid so that they could think of him for a minute or two and send him some good vibes.

On Rachael Ray Every Day sends its best wishes to Clint Gilbert!

You can read about it here.

WOW! Thats totally me! Well, thanks so much for writing this lttle blurb about me. My friend actually googled my name and found it, then told me. I just now read it for myself. So, here is an update, for anyone who cares. I had my transplant on May 24th I was in the hospital for about a month and a couple of weeks after the surgery. My disease actually infected the new kydney, but we fought it off with meications. I have been doing a procedure called Plasma Pharises since my transplant. It is a kydney anti-rejection treatment, and it seems to be working. Hopefully soon they can remove the shunt from my chest and taking the ilss will be enough. And as for Rachael Ray, I LOVE HER! My profile on MySpace hadn't mentioned my complete obsession with her, but trust me, I've got one. Not only is she freaking hott, but she can cook! And she is an inspiration to me. I love her personality, and I lover her hair (no matter how many different styles or colors it goes through). My favorite shows of hers are 30 Minute Meals (of course), $40 A Day, and the rest of them are great. Currently I own five of her cook books, and I buy her magazine every time a new issue is released, however, I did miss one issue when I was hospitalized for seizures last year. Which completely sucks! I asked my Mom to subscribe me to the magazine for my christmas gift, which is exciting. Anyway, keep in touch. My profile on MySpace can be reached by putting this in your web bar thingie: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=94189911. And my email is ClintDG@hotmail.com. Thanks again for writing about me, it makes me feel special and cared for. Goodbye! ^_^

Yeah, checking on this again, because I can't get over how cool it is. I got my shunt removed and since then have been doing okay. I had an acute reection a few months ago, but things got better and I'm doing fine now.
WOO. Thanks for writing this about me, again. Byeee!
