Beware of Rachael Ray Cookbooks?

I read an interesting post about celebrity cookbooks, including those written by Rachael Ray. Apparently, some industry analysts believe that the "hotness" of celebrity chefs means that they need to get product out into the market fast. In some cases, that can lead to errors or a lack of testing. Rachel Ray, for instance, has a ton of cookbooks out there and more coming... That makes sense, she is the most popular food celebrity around, after all.

The post states, in part:

""The gist of the article is that many of the popular cookbooks coming out these days are by so-called celebrity chefs, who often aren't famous for long, and that the publishing companies have a strong incentive to get the books out on the shelves before the chef's popularity wanes. As a result, there's very little in the way of testing the recipes or proofing the book itself. Chefs mentioned in the article are Sara Moulton, Emiril Lagasse, Mario Batali, Nigella Lawson, Tyler Florence, and even the lovely Rachael Ray."

There is some risk that the push for rapid publication may have lead to some problems here and there.

Now, the comments don't specifically name Rachael Ray as having deficiencies, but the logic might make one wonder about it a bit...

Interesting food for thought!
