WEDDING EXPENSES

Once upon a time, the family of the bride would pick up the tab for all wedding expenses. That still happens, occasionally, but more and more often the bills end up in the mailboxes of the new couple or the groom’s family. If you are planning on exchanging vows, be sure to plan ahead in order to cover all expenses.

You will want to find out how much each family can spend and get a solid dollar-figure commitment from them. Then, start looking at what you can do to cover costs. Once you have an idea of how much money you have available, you can plan more accurately.

The average cost for a wedding with 150 guests is currently around $25K. That price will vary based on a number of factors, of course, so budget with your specific needs and locale in mind. Keep the essentials in mind (everything from the gown to wedding cameras and party favors). Oh, and don’t forget the honeymoon!

Start saving right away. You can try to curtail your daily expenses and sock the money away in a savings account or a CD. Saving can be tough, but it may be the best way to make sure your wedding happens!

Also, be flexible in your plans. You don’t necessarily have to recreate the Charles/Di royal wedding to have a day to remember!
