I don't know what Rachael Ray drives, but I hope she is listening to the people at GEICO, who are reporting some of the findings of the NICB about auto theft. Car theft is a big deal in California. It's almost an epidemic. Anyway, consider this a public service announcement...

A few good ways to stop theft include etching the car's VIN numbers on each window. Apparently, the thieves don't want to go through the hassle of replacing glass before they sell the car. Another is the age-old advice we often ignore: Don't leave valuable stuff (like you new Rachael Ray cookbook!) where people can see it. It increases the chance of a break in and subsequent theft. Oh, and keep your title and registration out of the car. Apparently, thieves get pulled over but still manage to get away because they can produce title and registration for the officers right away.
